At the 31st annual IAGA conference, gaming operators, suppliers, attorneys, investors, bankers, regulators and advisors gathered at the Sands Expo and Convention Center in Las Vegas. Held Sept. 30-Oct. 2, and for the first time in conjunction with G2E, the event set attendance records for the organization. Panels covered everything from U.S. and international i-gaming challenges, to how industry regulators approach new technologies. Overall, outgoing IAGA President Gavin Isaacs called the weekend, informative, entertaining, thought-provoking, and “very, very successful.”

Promising to bring renewed passion to casino floors, Casino Technology launched the new branded video slot, Penthouse Slots™, at G2E. The games mark a new partnership between Bulgarian-based Casino Technology and the Penthouse Magazine publisher, General Media Communications Inc. Featuring the titles Butterfly Dreaming, Umbrella Dance, and Wild Temptations, see the first designs behind the inaugural global gaming license issued by Penthouse and Penthouse Club.  

From a sleek cabinet and niche poker game, to multiple titles harnessing the “power of the wheel,” American Gaming Systems had much to show and tell at G2E 2011. Here, AGS Vice President of Business Development Paul Lofgren explains the company’s year-long transformation, and how it led to the new Roadrunner™ platform. “We really just have a whole new attitude on how we do game development and how we do business,” Lofgren said.

From a 25th anniversary celebration to an unveiling of the latest in promotion technology, SCA Gaming marked many milestones at G2E 2011. Here, Linda Gordon, director of marketing, explains how the company develops electronic games, game boards, scratch cards, direct mail promotions and online promotions for any casino’s budget. Watch to also see the adaptability to VGAME, a 70-inch virtual touchscreen with several titles able to replace multiple promotions on a casino floor.

Spreading a message of specialization at G2E, Gaming Support highlights its BonusBox® and JackpotJunction XL® digital signage solution. Recently approved for the North American market, the BonusBox displays and dispenses physical prizes right at the game, allowing casinos to stock them with anything from cash, to tickets and iPods. And thanks to the Wide Area Relay System, JackpotJunction can now communicate winning amounts at multiple properties. Lisa Jensen, Gaming Support’s sales manager for North America, explains how both can work at any and all casinos.

Tom Hoskens of Cuningham Group Architecture, embodies the company’s vision of “Collaborate+Invent+Grow,” speaking descriptively and excitedly about the firm’s project lineup. Watch this video to hear more about the projects Cuningham Group is working on right now, from Tom himself. He discusses the Harrah’s Cherokee Casino and Hotel in Cherokee, N.C., the Golden Nugget in Atlantic City and Margaritaville in Biloxi, Miss. He also shares his thoughts on why Cuningham Group truly believes in working to improve the Gulf Coast gaming and tourism industries.

Gaming Partners International President Greg Gronau calls the highlight of G2E 2011 something he found lacking at other recent events: buyers. “You see a lot of people now looking at spending money next year on capital expenses and upgrades to their systems,” Gronau said. “It’s pretty exciting.” With that shift, company executives were eager to transfer products like the new Chip Inventory System (CIS) 2.0 and Dual Level Chip Tray from the show floor to the casino floor. G2E was a special show this year for Crane Payment Solutions, as it marked the first major gaming exhibition where it exhibited with Money Controls. The theme this year was “Cash Handling Made Easy.” Watch this to see Crane’s products—and executives—in action.

Aruze's Vice President of Marketing Steve Walther summed up the company's G2E 2011 offering well, “We’ve got it all in our product line: from steppers, to video, to video poker, to multi-station games, to link games.” Watch this video to see Four Chinese Beasts and Fortune Festival™ in action. Four Chines Beasts features Aruze's Radiant Reel Technology with 240 LED lights on the reels, which move backward and forward at up to 200 revolutions per minute. The stepper reel game has a wheel-style video bonus game on the top-box as well. Fortune Festival is housed in a bank of colorfully packaged and themed cabinets with a top screen. It offers three basic games that can link together with a 5-level progressive in which the top level is linked. Watch to see the entire bank light up to highlight a jackpot win. Now that's creating excitement for the player.
