Award presented by Associated Builders & Contractors at national conference

TULSA, Okla. (March 1, 2011) – Flintco, LLC was named as having the top building contractor safety program in the North American Industrial Classification System (NAICS) 236, 2 million-plus man-hour category at the Associated Builders & Contractors’ (ABC) Excellence In Construction Awards Gala held at the Waldorf-Astoria in Orlando, Fla. earlier this week.

The ABC National Safety Excellence Awards recognize companies whose safety performance and programs are judged to be exemplary and who exhibit a continued commitment to jobsite safety by the ABC National Environment, Health & Safety Committee. Awards are based on performance records and company interviews as well as site visits.  Award categories are based on a company's total work-hours completed per calendar year.

ABC is a national association with 75 chapters representing 23,000 merit shop construction and construction-related firms and nearly two million employees. ABC's membership represents all specialties within the U.S. construction industry and is comprised primarily of firms that perform work in the industrial and commercial sectors of the industry.

“It is our responsibility to ensure the safety of our workers and any subcontractors working on our job sites,” Flintco Safety Director Rocky Rowlett said.  “Flintco provides its employees and subcontractors with the resources needed to meet stringent safety requirements, including training and guidance.”

“At Flintco, we’re dedicated to making sure our contractors and subcontractors go home safely to their families every night,” Flintco Chief Executive Officer Tom Maxwell said.  “We take great pride in our safety record, and it is our mission to continue serving as a safety leader in the construction industry.”

Flintco’s safety program will also be competing later this month for a similar award at the national Associated General Contractors of America convention to be held in Las Vegas, Nev.  This is the seventh year that Flintco’s safety program has been named one of the top three in the nation and progressed to this national competition.
