The AGEM Index ended the month of January 2010 at 102.88, dipping 3.44 points or 3.23 percent from the previous month and falling back to a level not seen since July 2009. The AGEM Index has been in tow with the broader S&P 500 Index over the last few months, which also slid 3.7 percent during the month of January 2010.

In January’s issue of Casino Enterprise Management, I reviewed and discussed the different side bets that are available for use on blackjack tables. But what about the other table games? Can side bets be used on other games, such as craps, baccarat and poker-style games, to increase revenue and give players more added value to their gaming entertainment?

In Part III of this series, we discussed an approximate formula for calculating an equivalent rebate on actual losses in baccarat. Now we will use a method of repeated random sampling called a “Monte Carlo simulation” to assess the accuracy of the results of this formula. We will also propose an alternative method for calculating rebates on actual loss.

Last month we studied Configuration “A,” one of our fictitious video slot games. This game had a high hit frequency—87 percent. In order to achieve a configuration where the player wins almost nine out of every 10 games, the wins have to be small on average. Let’s move on to our second game configuration, Configuration "B," and see how it looks.
